The incident of death of Border Security Forces (BSF) jawan at Charghat of Rajshahi bordering India by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was unwanted and without having any ill intention, commented Bangladesh Home minister Asadauzzaman Khan Kamal.

He told that during exchange of fire the Indian BSF jawan was killed and injuring one. The incident is undesirable.

On Thursday (Oct.17) immediate after the incident he told this in an interview.

The Home minister said we have a very good neighborly relation with India. Generally we settle all problems like these through holding flag meetings. But there was no flag meeting in this incident. Talks are on between BGB and BSF. Endeavors are going on to reduce the tension between the two forces.

You all know that there is a ban on catching ‘Hilsha’ fish in our rivers. The movements of the fishermen are being closely observed so that none violates the ban. Suddenly BGB found that some fishermen were catching fishes in Padma. When BGB challenged them they realized that they are Indian citizens including few BSF members. As they intruded about 500/600 yards, they were detained and BGB said that you will be handed over to Indian authority after flag meeting. But they tried to flee away by speed boat. While fleeing the BSF members opened fire against BGB who also replied by opening fire against the BSF firing. That caused death to one BSF member and injuring another.
