Two cases filed against the detained fisherman with Charghat police

Two cases were filed against the detained Indian fisherman Pranab Mandol caught from the mouth of Padma – Boral on charge of intrusion in Bangladesh territory and also for using illegal current net for catching Hilsha fish during ban period.

On Thursday night (Oct.17) at 10-30 P.M. the cases were filed by the BGB with Charghat police station. Officer in Charge (OC) of Charghat Samit Kumar Kundu confirmed it at 11 P.M.

He told barta24.com that the BGB of Charghat border out post handed over Indian fisherman Pranab Mandol to Charghat police. The detained fisherman was given meal and he is in good health. Two cases of intrusion into Bangladesh territory and catching fish illegally were filed against Pranab Mandol.

OC said that he has been shown arrested and on October 18 he will be produced in Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate court. Next steps will be taken according to the order of the court.

Rajshahi BGB commander Lt. Colonel Ferdous Mahmud told in a press briefing that there was a flag meeting between BGB-1 and 117 BSF from afternoon to evening. But we did not hand over the detained fisherman who illegally intruded into Bangladesh territory and also violated The ban on catching Hilsha. In the flag meeting the BSF commandant claimed that one BSF jawan was killed and another BSF jawan got wounded. We assured them that action will be taken after investigation.

The meeting was held in a peaceful atmosphere, said this BGB high official.

Indian top media claimed quoting BSF sources that during BGB –BSF exchange of fire BSF head constable Bijoy Van Shing was killed and another jawan Rajbir Shing received bullet injury. He was admitted to Murshidabad Medical college hospital later on.
