The newly appointed nine additional judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court have been sworn in.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered oath to them on Monday (Oct 21) morning at the Judges’ Lounge in the Supreme Court.
The new judges are Muhammad Mahbub-ul Islam, Shahed Noor Uddin, Dr Zakir Hossain, Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder Mintu, Kazi Ebad Hossain, KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal, AKM Zahirul Haque and Kazi Zinat Hoque.
Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court divisions were present at the ceremony, conducted by High Court Division Registrar Md Golam Rabbani.
President Md Abdul Hamid appointed the nine judges for two years under Section 98 of the Constitution. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a circular on Sunday confirming their appointment.
