‘Push Button’ system is going to be introduced in the capital to facilitate the pedestrians to cross the busy road particularly in front of schools and hospitals safely.

The country’s first ‘Push Button’ system has been set up in front of the Green Herald School on Asad Avenue in the Mohammadpur area of the capital. If any body wants to cross the busy road he would press the button of Push Button, the speeding vehicles would stop instantly helping the pedestrians to cross the road safely. Today (Thursday, Oct.24) DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam would inaugurate the Push Button system. Through this one, the digital signaling system would begin in the capital. Gradually the system would be set up in front of the hospitals and schools.

Question might arise that if push button is pressed then how the vehicles will run? The question is logical. This signal will last for 25 seconds. It will have to be pressed after every 2.30 minuits. If it is pressed continuously it will not function.

Push Button

A private organization Arbico Consultant Limited has developed the design of the Push Button system financed by DNCC. The project will be run by Green Herald school authority. The security guards of the school with placards engraving ‘Stop’ will stand on the signal to stop the vehicles.

City and Transport Planner of Arbico Consultant Nur-e- Difa Muttaki told barta24.com that much money is not needed to introduce this system. We have introduced at Asad Avenue and work on three more points is going on.

Muttaki informed that we have used brighter color here. Like the developed world one person will help crossing the road with a placard ‘stop’. He further informed that an amount Taka 9 lakh 20 thousand were spent for setting this system in front of Brac University and Green Herald school.
