Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed has directed the army to cooperate with the government to continue the progress of the country through participation in all development activities, including economic and infrastructure developments, to uphold the dignity of the country, besides regular work.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the seventh Colonel Commandant at Engineer Center and School of Military Engineering at Kadirabad Cantonment in Bagatipara Upazila of Natore on Monday (October 28).
In his speech, he made a call to members of the Corps of Engineers to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
The army chief said, "the corp of engineers continues to make significant contributions to build the country beside working for development of the army.
General Aziz Ahmed said we have to be part of the progress with the consciousness and spirit of the glorious history of our liberation war when members of the Corps of Engineers joined the fight at the call of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The army chief said with the sincere efforts and willingness of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's the works to expand and modernize the army have begun. All possible steps will be taken in the coming days for the development of this force.
Retired army chief Lt. Gen. Harun-ar-Rashid, Major General Saiful Alam, Bogra Area Commander of the Army, Brigadier General Ashraful Islam, Commandant of the Kadirabad Cantonment, senior military personnel, government officials, military and civilian members of the corps, were present at the ceremony.
