Shakib committed mistake: Prime Minister

Regarding the recent crisis in Bangladesh cricket area the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Generally the gamblers contact the cricket players. Shakib did not give much importance on it. But the rule is that if that had happened Shakib ought to have informed ICC, but he did not. He did that mistake.’

Prime Minister briefed the press men at Gonobhavan at 4 P.M. on Tuesday (Oct.29) regarding the NAM summit and various other aspects of her Azerbaijan visit.

Prime Minister said that, ’If ICC takes any measure then we will have little to do. However, he committed mistakes, it is fact, but BCB is beside him.’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka on last Thursday (Oct.24) afternoon on a four day official visit to Azerbaijan for attending NAM summit. After the end of the summit she returned home on last Sunday (Oct.27).

NAM is known as the biggest alliance of 120 developing nations next to United Nations. The summit of NAM this time was held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.

On the side line of the summit Sheikh Hasina held bi-lateral talks with Malaysian Premier Dr. Mahathir bin Mohammad, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, Nepalese prime minister KP Sharma Oli, Palestinian’s foreign minister Rhiad Al Maliki, Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev.

Besides, she also held informal talks with Indian vice-president Venkaiya Naidu, Maldives’ foreign minister Abdullah Shahid and other heads of the government and states.

Sheikh Hasina raised the Rohingya problem in the general meeting of NAM and also in the bi-lateral meetings seeking its urgent solution. She also informed the world leaders about the measures taken by Bangladesh and the naked role Myanmar. She called upon the world leaders to get the problem solved immediately for the sake of regional peace, stability and to bring the development in the region ahead unnterruptedly.
