Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim has said no corrupt person will be spared as the government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance to corruption.

“No one resorting to corruption will be spared. The prime minister’s clear instruction about corruption is pursuing zero-tolerance policy. We’re working with the instruction in mind,” he said on Wednesday (Oct 30).

The minister was speaking at a seminar the Housing and Public Works Ministry organised in the capital, marking the World Habitat Day-2019.

He said, “We’re taking action wherever corruption is taking place. We won’t stand by anyone involved in corruption. Anyone corrupt cannot stay in our team. Relations, political identity, economic status – nothing can save any corrupt person.”

Rezaul Karim urged all to come forward to fight waste pollution and said effluent treatment plants will be set up in industrial zones and sewage treatment facilities in residential areas. “Otherwise our future generation will be at stake.”

Referring to the illegal operation of casinos in the country, he said, “The government won’t approve anything unethical… We don’t want sports clubs become a centre of casinos and drug trade.”
