Prothom Alo has been served with a legal notice seeking Tk 100 million in compensation over the death of a Dhaka Residential Model School and College student at a programme the newspaper organised on the institution’s campus.

Ninth grader Naimul Abrar was electrocuted at the programme organised to mark the founding anniversary of Khishor Alo magazine of Prothom Alo on Friday (Nov 1).

Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Faiz sent legal notice on behalf of the Abrar family through a registered post on Sunday (Not 3) in which Prothom Ali editor and publisher and Kishor Alo editor have been asked to pay the compensation.

The notice asked them to explain the incident and said legal action will be taken unless they pay the compensation money.

It requested the secretaries to information, education, and power and energy ministries to ensure that special safety measures are taken while arranging any event at educational institutions.
