Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said charge sheet in the case over the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad will be submitted to the court soon.
“We want to submit a flawless charge sheet. We’ll submit it soon. I’m contacting the investors every day and following up the matter. But we don’t want make any mistake in doing it in hurry. I hope we can submit the charge sheet shortly,” he said on Sunday (Nov 3).
The minister was speaking at a dialogue organised by Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters’ Forum (BSRF), a platform of newsmen in the Secretariat beat.
BSRF President Tapan Biswas and General Secretary Shamim Ahmed were present at the event, among others.
Abrar was beaten to death allegedly by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student front of the ruling Awami League, early last month over Facebook posts.
Asked about throwing of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute principal into a pond, the minister said 22 have been arrested soon after he knew about the incident and drives are going on to arrest others seen on video footage.
To a question on the existence of a militant outfit, Allahar Dal, he said, “We’ve got information on Allahar Dal. It will be banned.”
On the murders of several people, including Awami League leaders, in Chattogram Hill Tracts, Kamal said the government is taking measures, including improvement in communications, there to check such incidents.
“We’re increasing manpower [of law enforcers there]. We’re also trying to strengthen Border Guard Bangladesh by providing them with helicopters,” he added.
