Police have charged Jannatul Waish alias Nahid Hossain with the murder and attempted rape of two-year-old girl Ayesha Moni in the capital’s Gendaria one and a half years ago.
Sub-inspector Sadequr Rahman of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a charge sheet in the case to a Dhaka court, which fixed December 8 for hearing on charge framing.
Ayesha Moni, who was living in a slum at Deenonath Sen road in Gendaria with her parents, was found injured in front of a building near the slum on Jan 5 last year.
She was pronounced dead a day later when she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from National Medical College Hospital. Her father Idris filed a case with Generia police station on Jan 6.
Police arrested Nahid and grilled him in remand but he denied his involvement in the murder.
