Cyclone Bulbul 280km off coasts

The Cyclone Bulbul formed over the Bay of Bengal has gathered more wind speed and is moving towards the coasts in Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal, according to Met office.

The Met office said around 1pm on Saturday (Nov 9) that the cyclonic storm was 280 kilometres away from Mongla maritime port, 315 kilometres from Pyra, 470 kilometres from Cox’ Bazar and 475 kilometres from Chattogram.

According to meteorologists, the wind speed at the centre of the cyclone is ranging from 130 kilometres to 150 kilometres.

Meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department AKM Ruhul Kuddus said that around 9am the cyclone was 310 kilometres off Mongla, 335 kilometres off Pyra, 480 kilometres off Cox’s Bazar, and 490 kilometres off Chattogram.

The Department Deputy Director Ayesha Khanam said Pyra and Mongla ports have been asked to hoist danger signal number 10, Chattogram danger signal number 9 and Cox’s Bazar warning signal number 4.
