Appellate division suspend the bail of Latif Siddiky

The bail of former minister Abdul Latif Siddiky earlier granted by the High Court in a corruption case was suspended by the Appellate Division on till November 17.

On Monday (Nov.11) the bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain the Appellate Division gave this order.

Earlier the bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque granted bail of six months to Latif Siddiky on last November 4. The lawyer of ACC filed appeal to the Apex court seeking cancellation of the bail. After hearing the Apex court issued the order of bail suspension to Latif Siddiky.

Former minister of Jute and Textiles Abdul Latif Siddiky has been charged for incurring financial losses to the state amounting to Taka 40 lakh 70 thousand by selling a property of Jute mill located in Adamdighi of Bogura.

The Bogura ACC filed a corruption case against two including the former minister for sustaining loss to the state which he did with malafide intention.  The other accused is one Jahanara Begum, Wife of late Harun ar Rashid of Bogura town.    

Latif Siddiky sought bail on last June 20 in the court of Bogura. But the court rejected his bail prayer and sent him to jail custody. Next he appealed in the High Court for granting bail.
