Water transport service on different routes in Barishal has resumed after a three-day suspension due to Cyclone Bulbul, which lashed Bangladesh on Saturday (Nov 9) midnight wreaking havoc on coastal areas.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) allowed plying of water vessels to and from Barishal river port since 12pm on Monday (Nov 11).

BIWTA deputy director for marine safety and traffic management Azmal Huda Sarker Mithu confirmed the matter to Barta24.com.

He said BIWTA suspended plying of water transports on all Barishal routes as the river port hoisted warning signal number 2 and later 4 due to Cyclone Bulbul.

Officials said several launches left the port for different destinations, including Hizla, Mehendiganj and Bhola, after the suspension was withdrawn on Monday.
