Fifteen killed in train accident in Koshba of B’baria

Fifteen people were killed on the spot and 74 more were injured when the Chattogram bound Intercity Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram collided head on at Mandabhag station area under Koshba upazilla of Brahamanbaria district in the small hours of Tuesday(Nov.12).

The accident occurred about 3 A.M. After the accident the train communications of Dhaka with Sylhet and Chattogram are suspended. 

UNO of Koshba, Masud ul Alam has confirmed the accident. He informed that there was a head on collision between the Chattogram bound Intercity Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram at Mandabhag railway station. A number of carriages of the two trains have been derailed. Fifteen dead bodies were recovered in this accident so far. 

Deputy Assistant director of Brahamanbaria Fire Service Tanharul Islam told barta24.com that dead bodies of 9 out of 15 were received at the spot. Besides, three succumbed to their injuries at Koshba hospital, two died at Brahamanbaria hospital and one died at Cumilla Medical Collage Hospital. 

He further said of the total injured of 74, 27 were admitted to Koshba hospital, 36 were admitted to Brahmanbaria hospital and 11 are now under treatment at Cumilla Medical Collge Hospital.  

Station Manager of Kamalapur Railway Mohammad Aminul Haque said that after the tragic accident train communications of Dhaka with Sylhet and Chattogram are now suspended.
