All convicts in Nusrat murder case file appeals in the High Court

Dhaka: All the sixteen convicts filed appeals in the High Court against the tribunal orders which awarded death sentence to them for murdering Madrasha student Nusrat Jahan of Sonagaj of Feni. The convicts now imprisoned in the condemn cells filed the appeals through their jail authority seeking acquittal. 

On Tuesday (Nov.12) the convicts sent the appeal to the High Court division of Supreme Court. The convicts were sent to Cumilla and Chatttogram jails. All sixteen are now staying in the condemn cells.

After the preparation of paper book the hearings of death reference and the appeals of the convicts will be heard simultaneously. However, that is a time consuming matter. 

The Anti-Repression Court of Women and Child judge Md. Mamunur Rashid of Feni delivered the judgment of awarding death sentence to all the accused and to pay a fine of Taka one lakh each by all the sixteen convicts of Nusrat murder case on last October 24. 

The convicts are former Principal of Sonagaji Islamia Senior Madrasha Sirajuddowla, Nuruddin, Shahdat Hossain Shamim, Pourashava Councilor Maksud Alam, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Zobair, Jabed Hossain alias Shahkhawat Hossain Jabed, Hafez Abdul Kader, Absaruddin, Kamrunnahar Moni, Umme Sultana alias Poppy alias Tuhin alias Shampa alias Champa, Abdur Rahim Sharif, Iftekharuddin Rana, Imran Hossain alias Mamun, Mohammad Shamim, vice –president of Madrasha Governing body Ruhul Amin and Mahiuddin Shakil.
