Prime Minister stresses on modernization of Armed Forces

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the Armed Forces are being modernized through using technology and improved training to make it time-befitting in order to face the challenge of 21st century.

The Prime Minister said this in a reception arranged in connection with the Armed Forces Day. She said that long term plan has been taken up with this view. Separate Institute, academy and university have been set up, she added. 

The Premier said that for the continuation of democracy the government is also working. The government is also working to subdue terrorism, militancy and corruption to maintain law and order in the country. The Armed forces must work in accordance with the norms of the constitution.  

She said that her government has established three full fledged infantry divisions at Sylhet, Ramu and Patuakhali for Bangladesh army. The Navy is working using the vast maritime area of Bangladesh with modern naval ships equipped with weapons to face any danger in the sea.

The Premier said that the government is trying its best to build warships whereas some petro crafts have already been manufactured.

In this context she said her government has already established medical college, dental college, and engineering institute, technical and training institute for the welfare of the armed forces. We want to stand on our own feet not to beg to others, she added.
