International Labour Organisation (ILO) has assured the government of providing all sorts of cooperation in improving the working condition of labourers in Bangladesh.
ILO Country Director in Dhaka Tuomo Poutiainen gave the assurance at a meeting with Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq at the latter’s Secretariat office on Tuesday (Nov 26).
After the meeting, the minister said ILO has expressed its readiness to extend all-out cooperation to help Bangladesh fulfil its commitments on rights of the workers made at ILO conference.
Asked if the government has sought any specific assistance from ILO, he said, “No specific cooperation is needed. We need their cooperation in every aspect.”
“We’ve discussed the support and cooperation we need to ensure the rights of the workers for achieving the standard we’ve set,” he added.
Anisul said ILO will have discussion with the Ministry of Labour and Employment before taking final decision on the cooperation.
