Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that Awami League will not allow any body to lead luxurious life by illegally earned money rather will opt for leading simple life with honesty.

She was addressing the inaugural function of the triennial council of Dhaka North and South City units of Bangladesh Awami League at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (Nov.30) afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina firmly said that her government’s ongoing drive against corruption will continue, saying that the hard-earned money of the people will be spent for their welfare, not for leading lavish life by anybody.

The AL president said the children of those who earn money illegally go to the wrong path, their studies are destroyed and they get addicted to drugs due to that money because their parents have no time to look after their children but remain engaged in earning illegal money.

The Premier said that we don’t want such a social condition; we want everybody to earn money in an honest way and move with honor.

Prime Minister said that due to corruption electricity production reduced. We have increased the power after coming to power. They were engaged I unbridled corruption. They plundered public money through ‘Hawa Bhavan’.

She said that Al has been working for improving the life of the people. We have attained self sufficiency in food; we are looking after the nutrition of the people. We have nationalized 11 schools and 6 colleges in Dhaka city.

We are building flats for the people living in slums. Earlier at the end of ’90 we took plans for building flats for the sweepers when we were in power. But during BNP their Mayor executed the same plan by building such flats for the sweepers that it tilted because of the corruption.
