Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said sorry to the city dwellers for the “dust pollution created by the ongoing work on different development projects”.
Speaking at the inauguration of a crash programme of the corporation on Sunday (Dec 1), he said work on metro rail, elevated expressway and other development projects have created the pollution in the city.
“We hope the dust pollution will lessen after the project work is completed. We’re extremely sorry for the sufferings of the city dwellers during the period,” he said.
The mayor said the city corporation will water roads in different wards in the capital twice a day – morning and evening – by watering vehicles to combat the air pollution in the city.
Senior DSCC officials including chief executive officer Shah Mohammad Imdadul Haq and chief waste management officer Zahid Hasan were present at the programme launch.
