3908 women were victim of repression in eight months

According to the statistics of Bangaldesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) 3908 women became victim repression across the country during the period from January to October of the current year. In the paper clippings of 14 dailies preserved centrally the information of the women repression were published.

Of them 1475 were victims of rape, 201 were gang raped, 63 were killed after rape. Besides there were incidents of 225 attempted rape. 84 women were victims harassment while 13 of them committed suicide being harassed. 

This was disclosed on Tuesday (Dec.3) afternoon in a view exchange meeting held at National Press Club organized in connection with the observance of World Human Rights Day and integrating the activities of preventing women repression. BMP organized the meeting. 

The discussants said that this picture of women and girl repression is very much alarming. As worker of women movement the speakers asked the government why the incidents of rape are increasing. The speakers urged all to build public opinion about this worst incidents rape and killing of women. 

They termed it as an insult of the human values of the state. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad as an organization is committed to resist this type of social evils.
