Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said she does not want anyone wait for years with the pain of losing near and dear ones for justice.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the National Judicial Conference-2019 in the capital on Saturday (Dec 7), she said, “You (judges) have to ensure that everyone get justice and protection of law.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain handed over a crest to the prime minister at the event organised by Bangladesh Supreme Court at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The prime minister urged the judges to ensure rule of law and justice applying their talents and wisdom and being committed to the country, people and constitution.
“We want to build a hunger- and poverty-free Sonar Bangla as dreamt by the Father of the Nation. Bangladesh has been recognised as the development role model in the world,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said she is trying with sincerity to further advance the country.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq spoke at the event as the chief guest while the chief justice presided over it.
Among others, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Md Golam Sarwar and Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar also spoke.
Judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court and lower courts from across the country are taking part in the conference.
