Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa’s so-called boyfriend Abdur Rahman Saikat has been remanded in custody over her mysterious death.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MM Manunur Rashid granted remand for Saikat for four days after Detective Branch of police produced him before his court with the remand plea on Sunday (Dec 8).
Detective Branch showed Saikat arrested on Sunday (Dec 8), 12 hours after he was detained for questioning in the case.
The body of Rumpa, a second-year English department student of the private university, was found in front of a house in the capital’s Siddeshwari area on Wednesday (Dec 4) night.
Her father Rokon Uddin, a police inspector, filed a case against several unnamed people, on Thursday with Ramna police station over the death.
