The DUCSU leaders should talk about the problems of the students who come here to get admitted in the university about their sufferings. Why should I speak about it? The DUCSU should speak about the welfare of the DU students but I am to speak those. It was duty to give priority about the welfare of the students but they don’t say that. Rather many unfortunate incidents are being heard about them. I don’t like their activities.
On Monday (Dec.9) President of the Republic and Chancellor of the Dhaka University Advocate Abdul Hamid told all these while addressing the 52nd convocation function at the university premises.
Earlier the President gave thanks to the VC for holding the DUCSU election. He also stressed on holding the next election in fairer manner.
The Chancellor said that I don’t like the introduction of Evening Shift. After evening due to this no academic environment prevails on the campus. I have heard that taka 10 thousand is taken for each course. Of the total money half goes to the teacher while half goes to the department. Further I learnt that the senior teachers also take classes. It seems that the university has turned into ’business institution’ instead of knowledge center, he said.
The president expressed his indignation about some of the incidents took place on the campus. He said the students come here to learn not to go home as corpse.
