The Supreme Court has allowed 30 Appellate Division lawyers from each side in the courtroom during the hearing on BNP chief’s bail petition in Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain put the cap following suggestion of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam after Khaleda’s lawyers alleged that they were not allowed to enter the courtroom.

After the six judges of the Appellate Division led by the chief justice entered the courtroom at 9:05am, Khaleda’s counsel Khandker Mahbub Hossain said, “Our lawyers cannot enter the courtroom. They are being stopped at the gate.”

The chief justice said to him, “You had created jam during the previous hearing.”

At the point, the attorney general suggested that the court can fix how many lawyers of each side will be allowed to stay in the courtroom. Then the chief justice fixed the number at 30.
