The protection measures at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Guahati, capital of Assam has been beefed up in the background of the violence and curfew clamped there following passing of the Citizens Amendment Bill (CAB) in Indian parliament.

On Thursday (Dec.12) this was informed through a press release issued by the foreign ministry.

It was informed in the press release that on Thursday there was protest rally in front of the Bangladesh Mission where some protesters staged demonstration within the 30 yards of the Mission and have damaged the signboard. On Wednesday, the vehicle carrying Assistant High Commissioner from airport was attacked by the protesters.

Ambassador Kamrul Ahsan on Thursday evening met the Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Riva Gangulay Das and protested the matter of attack on the personnel and damaging of the properties. He requested her to take additional security to protect the lives and property of Bangladesh mission by the government of India. Indian High Commissioner has assured that already the concerned authority of India has been alerted about the matter.

Bangladesh believes that the attack on Mission officials and the chancery building is an accidental incident. And it will not affect the existing bi-lateral relation between India and Bangladesh.
