‘Home ministry did not send any list of Razakars’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that his ministry did not send any list of Razakar- Al Badar- Al Shams or freedom fighters to the Liberation War ministry.

On Wednesday(Dec.18) in reply to a question of the journalists the home boss in his ministry said in connection with recently published controversial list of Razakars.   

Rather the home ministry provided a list of those who were accused under the Collaborators Act 1972-74, the minister said.

“In the list, we gave notes against some 996 persons but the Liberation War ministry didn’t drop their names while publishing the list of Razakars. Therefore, it is the Liberation War ministry’s responsibility for this mistake in the list,” he said.

The minister also said action should be taken against the responsible persons.

Earlier on Monday, the Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters that his ministry did not prepare the list of Razakars. They just published the list as it is provided by the home ministry.

Whether the name of Freedom fighter Golam Arif Chowdhury Tipu was sent from the home ministry, in reply the minister said, ‘we are verifying the matter, how it went, I don’t know.’ However, there might be mistakes. If anybody deliberately committed this mistake then he will be brought to book. To see the name of Golam Arif Chowdhury in  the list, the minister said that he also shocked to learn it.

It is mentioned here that on last Sunday (Dec.15) a list of the Rzakars of 1971 was released by the Liberation War ministry containing the names of 10,789 people of the country. That list contained the name of some gazette included freedom fighters of the country. When the matter came to light the two ministries trade blames to each other.
