The ruling Awami League has announced its new Presidium inducting three leaders -- Shajahan Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman – into the top policymaking forum of the party.
The new Presidium was constituted at the second session of the two-day 21st National Council of the party held at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital.
The other members of 19-member Presidium are Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammed Nasim, Kazi Zararullah, Sahara Khatun, Nurul Islam Nahid, Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya, Abdur Razzak, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Col (retd) Faruk Khan, Maann Khan and Abdul Matin Khashru.
Newly elected Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Obaidul Quader are ex-officio members of the Presidium.
Sheikh Hasina announced names of the new leaders elected in different posts of the party.
Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni, Dr Hasan Mahmud and AFM Bahauddin Nasim were elected joint general secretaries.
Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two-day council of the Awami League at Suhrawary Udyan on Friday (Dec 20) afternoon.
