BRAC founder and chair emeritus Sir Fazle Hasan Abed has been laid to rest at Banani graveyard in the capital.
Family members, BRAC employees, political leaders, officials of socio-cultural organisations and people of different strata of the society were present when he was buried around 1:45pm on Sunday (Dec 22).
Before the burial, the body of Sir Abed was taken to Army Stadium around 10:30am and kept there until 12:30pm to facilitate the paying of respects by people all sections of the society.
The Namaz-e-Janaza [funeral prayer] for him was held around 1:45pm before the burial. After the prayer, Sir Abed’s son Shareman Abed expressed his gratitude to all for paying respects to his father.
Major Ashiqur Rahman placed a wreath at the coffin of Sir Abed on behalf of President Md Abdul Hamid and Col Md Saifullah for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sir Abed breathed his last on Friday evening at Apollo Hospitals in the city.
