Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the election to the two Dhaka city corporations will be free, fair and acceptable to all.
“I want to assure you that the city election will be free and fair. They will be acceptable to all,” he told reporters at the reunion of political science department alumni of Dhaka University on institution’s campus on Wednesday (Dec 25).
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, hailed the BNP for deciding to join the city election.
“Our rival BNP is participating in the city polls. I congratulate them for the decision. We want the election to be participatory and competitive,” he said.
The Awami League general secretary said his party would not mind losing the election. “There will no problem for us whichever party wins it… We want to present the people with a fair election.”
He pledged to give all-out support to the Election Commission from the government for holding a free and fair election.
