Information minister & joint general secretary of Awami League has called for the resignation of Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder and advised him about reforming the electoral system.
He said this while interacting with the journalists on contemporary issues at his office on Thursday (December 26) at noon.
Responding to the remarks that Mahbub Talukder sought reform of the Commission, he said, I have heard Mahbub Talukder's statement on television. It is necessary to resign before saying what he has said. What he says about his failure or what he says from his dream is self-deception.
"The election process has been reformed in view of our demands," he said. Awami League president Sheikh Hasina demanded that the voter list be photographed. In the wake of that claim, there is a pictured voter list and many reforms in the election process.
The electoral system can be reformed if the time requires it. At one time in our country, voting was done by raising hands. Later that vote is going through the secret ballot, now being in the EVM. Reforming the electoral system is an ongoing process. But the other contexts he says about self-deception are self-deprecating.

Responding to the question whether Mahbub Talukdar has repeatedly criticized the Commission, the overall condition of it was not bad, the minister said, "I do not think that the normal condition of the Commission is disturbed. Mahbub Talukdar has been talking about such things at different times. And he's trying to stay in the discussion with such disagreements, he added.”
