Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives division Md. Rezaul Ahsan said, "The government has taken an advance preparation to reduce the plight of the poor and destitute people in winter." Cash and blankets have been sent to the Deputy Commissioners to give relief to cold hit poor people across the country. The government is with the poor cold hit and rootless people so that they do not suffer in winter.’
He said this during a blanket distribution function held on Saturday (Jan.4) among the cold hit people at the cooperative bank premises of Rangpur city. Central Co-operative Bank Limited organized the funtion.
The Secretary further said, "Apart from the government if the private institutions, development agencies and society's wealthy people would have come then the poor would not suffer in winter." We should stand beside the cold hit, helpless, and destitute people, according to everyone's ability.’
About 500 blankets were distributed in the function to prevent winter. Later on, the secreatry visited the under construction Rangpur Central Cooperative Bank Shopping Complex.
Deputy Director of the local government Syed Farhad Hossain, chairman of Rangpur Central Cooperative Bank Limited and general secretary of the metropolitan Awami League Tushar Kanti Mondal, Rangpur Central Co-operative Bank Limited vice-president Sarwar Alam Mukul, and director Aminur Rahman Sarkar were present.
