‘If Father of the Nation was not born there would be no Bangladesh’ – Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that if the father of the nation was not born, Bangladesh would not have been born. Bangladesh Awami League won the election of 1970. But Pakistan did not allow the Bangalees to form government. Following the orders of Bangabandhu, the people of Bangladesh participated in the war of liberation. On December 16, our victory was achieved after nine months struggle.

She said this while inaugurating the count down of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Friday (Jan. 10) afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said though our victory was achieved but Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was still imprisoned in a Pakistani jail. People around were eagerly waiting for Sheikh Mujib. The day he returned January 10 our freedom was completed and people from all walks of life became enormously enchanting and hapy.    

She said Bangabandhu spent most of his life in jail. He suffered lot for the Bangalees. Under his leadership people inspired by the slogans ‘Joy Bangla’, Joy Bangabandhu’ joined in the liberation war.
