Retired Judge of the Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik filed a writ petition in the High Court bringing allegations of concealing information in the election affidavit against BNP-nominated mayoral candidate Tabitha Awal in the upcoming Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election.
He filed the writ petition on Sunday (Jan. 26) in the relevant branch of the High Court as a plaintiff.
Hearing on the writ petition will be held in the bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md. Khairul Alam on Monday (Jan. 27). In the writ petition the Election Commission has been made defendants.
Earlier in the afternoon of Jan. 23, Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik met with Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam and demanded cancellation of Tabith's candidature. At this time, he also filed a written complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
