From JS Bhavan: India is Bangladesh's friendly neighboring country. The country has taken up the plan of National Registration of Citizens(NRC). Bangladesh considers the NRC issue as an internal matter of India. NRC issue will not have any undue impact on Bangladesh. That assurance has been given to the Government of Bangladesh from the highest place of the Government of India. Despite that Bangladesh is closely monitoring the internal situation in India, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.

He told all these during a question-and-answer session scheduled for ministers in the Parliament session on Sunday (Jan. 26) afternoon. Earlier the day's program started under the chairmanship of Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. Home Minister told all these in reply to question raised by treasury bench member Asim Kumar Ukil.

The Home Minister said, "India's contribution to the liberation war of Bangladesh is undeniable. Our neighborly good relations with India are continuing. Recently, the Government of India adopted the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Registration of Citizens (NRC) plans in different provinces according to their own policy. The Government of Bangladesh considers India's Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as an internal matter of India. Similarly, the controversy surrounding the bill can be seen as part of India's domestic politics. The Government of India will fully cooperate with the neighboring state of Bangladesh Government and the people on their strong mutual trust, cordiality and understanding while the Government of India takes action on the basis of its political commitment. Still Bangladesh is closely monitoring India's internal situation in this regard.”

He also said, "Bangladesh has been achieving economic growth, especially the GDP growth, for some years including the unprecedented success in socio-economic development. Therefore, it does not appear that Bangladeshi citizens have any rationale for any economic incentive for  illegal immigration to India. ”

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has always taken strong security at the border to curb border crime, including illegal trafficking, smuggling. However, the BGB is always is in highest alert to prevent any illegal activities including border crimes. If any worrying situation arises, steps will be taken according to the border and international law. ”

Taking steps at the border, the minister said, "Regions / Sector / Battalion, subordinate to the army, are being monitored with force patrols in the border areas to prevent illegal entry into India through the border." At the same time, joint operations were carried out through the task force if necessary beyond 8 km of the border.

He also said, “697 Border Out Posts (BOP) have been set up at the border to protect the border and prevent smuggling. To enhance surveillance in the mid zone area of the BOPs, 128 Border Sentry Posts (BSPs) are under process of setting up. Apart from this, the BGB is regularly sending motivational spirit to increase awareness among the local people to prevent illegal intrusion through border areas.
