High Court dismisses writ petition against Tabith Awal

The High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed against the BNP-nominated mayor candidate Tabith Awal in the upcoming Dhaka North City Corporation election alleging that Tabith has concealed fact in his wealth statement submitted to EC in the affidavit.

On Monday (Jan. 27) a bench of the High Court comprising Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md. Khairul Alam made this observation.

The order states that there are only four days left for the election. It is not possible to verify these papers in a short time and resolve the matter. If any party is interested then you can question it after the election. This will be good for both parties. Therefore, the application was rejected out right.

Earlier on Sunday (Jan. 26) Retired Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik the writ petition in the relevant branch of the High Court.

Earlier on the afternoon of January 23 Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik met with election commissioner Rafiqul Islam to cancel Tabitha's candidature. At this time, he also filed a written complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
