Destiny chief jailed for three years

Rafiqul Amin, managing director of Destiny Group, has been sentenced to suffer three years imprisonment in a corruption case for not submitting  assets statement.

Special Judge-8 Judge Shamim Ahmed announced the verdict on Tuesday (Jan. 28) at noon. He was also fined Taka 50 lakh.

The accused, Rafiqul Amin, was brought from jail to court. He was again sent back to jail with a sentencing warrant. On June 16 of 2016 the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) gave notice to Rafiqul Amin for submitting assets accounts while he was in jail in a corruption case for embezzling and laundering Taka 4,000 crore.

Rafiqul Amin was given seven more days when he had wanted time to submit his assets statement. But he did not file his assets statement till September 8 of 2016 when the ACC filed the case with Ramna police station.
