Election Commission (EC) has ordered to remove the election camps on the footpaths in different wards within next 24 hours built in connection with the campaigning in the upcoming Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election.
Returning officer of the North City Abul Kasem on Tuesday (Jan. 28) night gave this directive.
He directed the concerned executive magistrate and officer in charge (OC) of police stations. The directive said, `The Election Commission has given directions for removal of the election camps built by the mayors, reserved seats councilors and general seat councilors on the pavement in different wards in connection with the DNCC election hampering free movement on the footpaths. Under this situation it was requested to take necessary steps to remove all the camps set up on the walkway within the next 24 hours. '
At the meeting with the Election Commission on January 27, the BNP's delegation complained about the erection of more than 100 election camps on footpaths.
