The allegation of human trafficking in Kuwait is now against the Jatiyo Sangsad(JS) member. Though he claimed innocence and also said that all these were done to humiliate him.
The local newspaper reported such news, citing the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry. Later, the news was published in various newspapers in Bangladesh.
He is trying to leave the country when such a complaint is made against this lawmaker. However, he said he would go to Kuwait for business purpose.
Lakshmipur-2 constituency MP Mohammad Shahid Islam Paplu will leave for Kuwait. Accordingly he sent a leave application on Sunday (Feb. 16) to Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury for going abroad. It is learned that the Speaker signed the petition after the JS session.
What is written in his prayer to the Speaker?
The petition was written to the Speaker seeking permission to travel abroad - ‘From today, February16, I have to travel to Kuwait on an urgent basis for my business activities. I would like to inform you that the session of the Parliament is in progress.
It should be noted that I intend to return to Bangladesh on February 18.’ He applied with his passport number on the pad containing the logo of Parliament. The leave prayer was sent to JS by his PS Sohail.
The report published in local newspapers quoted by the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry, said Kazi Shahid Islam, a member of parliament including two other Bangladeshi traffickers involved in human trafficking in Kuwait. It was also reported that he had returned to the country to evade the arrest.
According to the report, the vicious circle of three including this Member of Parliament sent about 20 thousand Bangladeshis to Kuwait and earned Taka 1400 crore.
Although he was tried to contact over cell phone to comment on the matter, he did not receive the phone. His wife Selina Islam is also a member of the Member of Parliament from reserved quota.
