From JS Bhavan: During last 9 years (2010-2019), the government has appointed 97504 officers through the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. Of them,30301 officers have been appointed in various cadre and 67203 officers were appointed to non-cadre, Minister of State for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said.
State Minister said on Monday (Feb. 17) afternoon. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the session of question hour in the written reply to question of former secretary and member of treasury bench Manjur Hossain MP.
Replying to a question of Opposition Jatiyo Party MP Dr. Rustam Ali Farazi, the Minister said that there are currently 153 female officers working as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in the country. Presently, officers of 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st batch are serving as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).
Replying to a question of Opposition Chief Whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga, the minister said that the government has no plan to cancel the contract-basis appointed system in the public interest as per Article 49 0f 2018 of the Government Jobs Act, which is a special mechanism in the jurisdiction of the President.
He said that contractual appointment is an administrative activity. In special terms and in government institutions / agencies in which there is a competent qualified manpower crisis, the formal activities are kept in place by appointing qualified military / civilian officers / employees and the government on contract the qualified person from the public.
Apart from this, due to administrative and litigation complexes, which are not possible to recruit fast, efficient manpower is appointed to tide over the crisis by providing contractual appointments to retired government officials / employees at those agencies at the request of the administrative ministry. Unless contractual appointments are made, normal office activities are likely to be hampered.
