Five teachers of Dhaka University (DU) have been dismissed from services.
The decision was made at the syndicate meeting, the highest policy-making body of the university on Tuesday (Feb. 25) night.
A number of syndicate members, who are unwilling to be named, confirmed the information to barta24.com at night.
Those teachers who lost their jobs are Associate Professor of the Department of Population Sciences Kamrul Islam, lecturer of the Department of Sociology Ajmeri Ferdous, Assistant Professors of Statistics Research and Education Mrs. Yasmin Akter and Md. Mohsin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics Mrs. Radia Taisir.
Sources say Ajmeri Ferdous of Sociology Department has been released on her own appeal. However, the remaining four have been dismissed for not joining work after completing their education leave.
