Bangladesh and Norway discussed the Grameenphone arrears. The two countries hoped that the issue will be resolved through a court.

Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen said this after the Foreign Secretary-level meeting between Bangladesh and Norway at the state guest house Padma on Tuesday (March 3).

He said that Telenor Company of Norway has shares in Grameenphone. They have already deposited Taka 1000 crore. We are hopeful the rest of the arrear issue will be resolved.

Norway's Foreign Secretary Tor Hatrem said, ‘We have raised some concerns. The matter is now pending in court. But a solution that is good for everyone will only be good.’

‘We want to be a member of the UN Security Council,’ he added. As a member, Norway will be able to play a strong role in resolving the Rohingya issue. During this time, he greeted the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Mujib Borsho.

According to the meeting, Norway is highly skilled in the maritime economy. Bangladesh sought assistance from the country in this regard. Norway has expertise in various sectors of the ocean economy, including deep sea fishing. Bangladesh wants to work with Norway to develop technology and skills in this regard. There is no deep sea fishing experience in Bangladesh and Norway is ready to help.

Bangladesh has developed into a middle-income country. To make it sustainable, the amount of skill development or skill development required is lacking in the country. Discussions were held with Norway to improve skills.
