Main program at parade square has been suspended

Dhaka: The program scheduled to be held at the National Parade Square on the occasion of Mujib Borsho has been postponed. Foreign guests are not coming. However, 32, Dhanmondi and Tungipara programs will be held accordingly.

On Sunday (March 8), the Chief Coordinator of the National Implementation Committee and former principal secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury said this at a press conference after the emergency meeting. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Rehana was also present at the meeting.

Dr. Kamal Abdul Nasser said the meeting decided that the birth centenary before the inaugural function of Mujib Borsho scheduled to held on March 17, coronavirus has been detected and so the program was reorganized. Bangabandhu wanted to ease the suffering of the people. Therefore, it was decided to relieve the suffering of the people and to restructure the overall program with a view to the health of the people.

According to the decision, the gathering will be avoided around the occasion across the country. However, the opening ceremony will be held on March 17. Under it, tributes will be paid to the portrait of Bangabandhu at 32, Dhanmondi. Later tributes will be paid at the tomb of Bangabandhu at Tungipara. Doa Mahfil will be held throughout the country and  programs will be held at educational institutions in a limited way.
