26th span of Padma bridge installed on Tuesday

26^th span of Padma bridge was installed on pillar no. 28 &29 on Tuesday (March 10) morning at Jajira end according to Sub-Assistant engineer(SAE) of the project. Now 3.90 kilometers of 6.15 kilometers long of the bridge has become visible.
3 more spans are left.

The SAE Humayun Kabir told that the span was taken to the designated Pillars by a crane from Maura's Kumarovog Construction Yard on Monday (March 9). Then in the morning, the span was set at Pillars 28 and 29.

According to project source, the total number of pillars in the entire bridge is 42. Each pillar has six piles. Distance from one pillar to another is 150 meters.

The bridge is being constructed with a long steel structure or span joint at this distance. 41 spans will be installed on 42 pillars. Span parts are made from China and brought to Bangladesh.

Moreover, 2,931 roadway slabs will be installed throughout the bridge. And 2959 railway slabs will be set. China's Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working to construct the main bridge and another company, Sino Hydro Corporation, is operating the river training work.

The entire bridge will have 2,931 roadway slabs. While the railway slabs will be installed at 2959. The construction of the roadway slab on the span of Jajira on the Padma Bridge has begun and simultaneously work on the railway slab is going on by the local and foreign engineers.

The two-storied Padma Bridge is located between Mawa of Munshiganj and Jazira of Shariatpur.  The length of the main bridge is 6.15 km.

It is expected that by the end of June this year, all spans will be installed and by July next year, the Padma Bridge will be opened to traffic.

Meanwhile, construction work of the Padma main bridge constructed on the strong current flowing Padma River has been completed to 85.50 and the work on river training is done to 70 percent. Moreover, the overall progress of the project is completion 86.50 percent work.

It is to be mentioned here that on last January 14, 21^st span, on January 23, 22^nd span, on last February 2, 23^rd span, on last February 11, 24^th span and on last February 21 25^th span was installed.
