President and PM pay homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage by placing floral wreaths at the mausoleum Bangabandhu at Tungipara in Gopalganj on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

President Abdul Hamid arrived at Tungipara on Tuesday (March 17) at 10.15 AM by a helicopter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at 9.55 AM. The Prime Minister welcomed the President when he arrived at the premises of Bangabandhu’s mausoleum at 10.17 AM.

At 10.17 AM, the President Abdul Hamid placed the floral wreaths at the altar of the mausoleum first paying tribute and then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed wreaths. During this time, a smartly turned out contingent of the Army, Navy and Air Force presented Guard of Honor.

After paying tribute, the President and the Prime Minister stood in silence for some time. Later, special prayers was offered for the salvation of the departed souls killed on August 15, 1975, martyrs of the great liberation war. Later, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wrote comments in the comment book kept in the premises of the mausoleum of Bangabandhu.

Next the Prime Minister as president of party paid tributes along with the central and associate bodies’ leaders.

Prime Minister's younger sister Sheikh Rehana and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, Jatiyo Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Central Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Matia Chowdhury MP, Education Minister Dipu Moni MP, Lt. Colonel (retd) Muhammad Farooq Khan MP, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal MP, State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palk MP, Amir Hossain Amu MP, Agriculture Minister Abdul Razzaq MP, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Abdullah, Sheikh Helal Uddin MP, Sheikh Tanmay MP, Juba League President Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash along with party leaders were present.
