Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the Armed Forces would be deployed across the country from Tuesday (March 24) to facilitate precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He said that the deployed army will review the medical services of quarantine patients and quarantine arrangement of the suspected cases at the district and divisional level in coordination with the district administration.
This was stated by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam while briefing newsmen at the Cabinet Conference Room at the Secretariat on Monday (March 23).
He said the Armed Forces will be deployed to assist the district administration from March 24 to ensure social distance and alert system at the field level and to facilitate the alert system. According to the law, the District Magistrate will give necessary requisition to the commanders of the armed forces. They will work until further orders.
Anwarul Islam said public transport movement will be limited. It has been advised to avoid public transport as far as possible. Those who will use public transport in emergency need, they must use public transport with necessary preventive measures against corona infection. Drivers and Assistants must be alerted enough including using masks and hand gloves. Considering the needs of the people Bangladesh Bank will give necessary instructions for the continuation of banking system at limited time during the holidays.
