Due to coronavirus situation prevailing in the country local and mail trains are being suspended from Tuesday (March 24). All inter-city trains likely to be shut from March 26 onwards.
Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Shamsuzzaman confirmed the news on Tuesday (March 24) morning.
He said that all local and mail trains on the eastern and western zones have been announced to be closed from Tuesday morning. The inter-city train of all routes might be closed from March 26 as holiday will continue till April 4.
The Director General further said that no advance train tickets are being sold on March 26. For the corona situation advance train tickets have been made for 5 days instead of 10 days. The Dhaka-Kolkata Maitri Express train has already been suspended. Railways will inform all if further decisions are made.
