PCR machine has been brought in to diagnose coronavirus at Rangpur Medical College Hospital ( RMCH). The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Dhaka has sent the PCR machine.
The PCR machine arrived at RMCH from Dhaka on Thursday (March 26). Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Laizu confirmed this to barta24.com.
He said that a Covid -19 test machine has been brought in to install in the micro-biology department of the hospital. Suspected corona patients in Rangpaur division will be tested in this machine. The machine will start functioning soon.
He also said that if the patient suspected of having corona infection through a PCR machine, the patient's blood, sweat and saliva would be examined. That's why a medical team has been formed here in RMCH.
According to IEDCR Director Mirzadi Sabrina Flora, at a press briefing on Wednesday (March 25), the PCR machine will be provided to conduct coronavirus detection tests at all the divisional hospitals in Dhaka and outside Dhaka. In that light, a testing machine has been arranged to detect corona at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
It is to be noted that no person has been infected from coronavirus in Rangpur district till now. The number of people currently in home quarantine is 175. And there is one person in the institutional quarantine.
