The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) informed that they have come very close to producing ventilators with their own technology.

In the meantime, their designs have been approved by a branch organization of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The MIST has already reached the second phase of three phases of ventilator production, which will be completed in a few days. Next it will have a clinical test in the ICU of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka from April 4.

If everything goes well, then through Walton we will go for mass production, said Colonel Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Head of Biomedical Engineering Department of MIST.

Once the clinical test is done, we will submit it to the Directorate General of Health, he said. We had a talk with them. They will arrange local and international approval for this device.

The ventilator is a device through which patients with respiratory problems can continue to breath in alternative ways. In many cases the lungs do not function properly when infected with coronavirus. As a result, many are dying due to shortness of breath.

Bangladesh will also need many ventilators because of the coronavirus attack. From that point of view, the MIST started working on this issue from March 20.
