In the UK coronavirus infection is thought to have started to subside. The country is going to get positive results from the urgent action of the government including maintaining social distancing.

Professor Neil Ferguson of Imperial College, London has said these things to be optimistic.

He said the difference in hospital admission rate was suggesting that the direction of social distancing was effective.

Professor Ferguson added that the new antidote test is going to be done very soon, it is very important to understand how the virus works.

In the UK, we see some early signs of slowing down the transmission of the virus, said Professor Ferguson at a BBC radio event.

However, the Professor said the death rate was not reduced, because, usually, after a few days, death did not occur immediately after being attacked.

If we look at the number of new patients admitted to hospitals, the infection rate may have decreased, he said. Since the virus has not yet been eradicated, the number of infected people is still increasing daily. However, the growth rate has slowed a bit.

This professor of mathematical biology said that no symptoms are found in one-third or 40 percent of the people infected. Two to three percent of people in the UK may be infected, he informed.

But Ferguson said there was still not enough statistics to make a definitive decision on the outbreak in the UK.

He added that it was very clear that the pandemic was at different stages in different places in the UK. In central London 3 to 5 percent people are infected.

Professor Ferguson hopes the antidote test is in the final stages which will come out soon.
