Naryanganj has been put under indefinite lockdown

As the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has identified it as the hotspot of coronavirus transmission, the entire district of Narayanganj is gone under complete lockdown from today (Wednesday).

The district will remain under lockdown until further notice, said an ISPR release on Tuesday(April 7) night.

Earlier City Mayor Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy and MP Shamim Osman have requested to put the district under lockdown to stop transmission of the disease.

ISPR said however, emergency services like medical care and supply chain will remain out of the purview of the restrictions, it said.

Civil administration, Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies in coordination with local representatives will jointly work to this end.

Bangladesh on Tuesday reported 41 more coronavirus cases, including 15 from Narayanganj.

According to a press release signed by ADC of Naryanganj, Mohammad Selim Reza, in this district so far 38 people got infected from corona. Five of them died, 16 people are now under isolation while three more died with corona symptoms.
